Visual Art Lessons for K-8 Educators
This website provides art lesson plans for teachers. All lessons have been developed and time-tested by the specialists at the Art Center in the Fairbanks, Alaska public schools. Although developed for a specific grade, all lessons are easily adaptable to others levels. Many of the lessons developed for 4th and up are easily relevant for middle school art students. Alaska District Curriculum Survey
The Department of Education & Early Development asked the Alaska Comprehensive Center and Education Northwest to collect up-to-date information on reading and mathematics curricula, including texts and other published materials, that each district has adopted/purchased. It was EED’s intention by means of this survey to provide information to districts regarding curricula in use in the state and the ways districts are aligning the curricula to the standards.

EED has planned a series of technical assistance audio calls for superintendents and Federal Program Coordinators in districts with schools eligible for funding from the School Improvement Grants (SIG) under 1003(g) regular and ARRA funding.

Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center (AKPIRC) Language and Cultural Liaison Program
AKPIRC’s Language and Cultural Liaison (LCL) program offers support to parents who are reluctant to partner with schools or who are limited English speakers, thereby overcoming significant barriers to parent involvement. The LCL program involves parents through home visits, workshops, and ongoing communication with teachers and administrators. The LCL program is available in Anchorage and Yupiit School Districts.
Alaska Learning Labs (AKLabs) - an SES provider for Schools in Level II Status or Higher
Alaska Learning Labs (AKLabs), a program of SERRC - Alaska's Educational Resource Center, is a FREE after-school tutoring program that offers 80 one and a half hour sessions and is flexible to meet each site's schedule. For an enhanced learning experience, students earn incentive points for participating in research-based online programs and hands-on activities in reading, writing, and math. AKLabs is an approved SES provider whose services are free to all schools in Level II status or higher.
