Webinar: RTI in Mathematics at the Secondary Level
The Center on Instruction hosted a webinar on January 10, 2012, on RTI in Mathematics at the Secondary Level, featuring Dr. Takako Nomi from the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research and Dr. John Woodward of the School of Education at the University of Puget Sound. Dr. Nomi shared her research on how to help struggling students catch up on foundational skills needed to master algebra, and Dr. Woodward discussed how to motivate middle school students and get them engaged in.....Curriculum Resources
Docs.Teach.org (National Archives teaching resources)
The National Archives has launched a new online tool for teaching with documents. Not only does DocsTeach.org welcome educators to explore thousands of documents in a variety of media from the holdings of the National Archives, but it also allows teachers to combine these materials using clever tools to create engaging activities. Teachers can create lessons from scratch, adapt lessons from others, or let their students create the lessons, and a single suite of tools can be applied to a range of subjects and skill levels. Social Studies Taskforce Report
This report done in Maryland, but with a national perspective, acknowledges the challenges faced by social studies over the past decade, including the unintended marginalization of social studies disciplines caused by NCLB. The social studies task force made nine recommendations in its report that are “intended to reverse social studies’ decline.”
