Failure Is Not an Option Model with Professional Learning Communities
www.hopefoundation.org/main.php?p=1
The Failure Is Not an Option Professional Learning Communities of HOPE program is a flexible, process-oriented approach to school improvement. Goals are set based on an individualized assessment of your school or district. Customized one-, two-, and three-year options are available depending on your specific needs. This approach:
• Builds off school improvement plans
• Creates a customized plan based on a strengths-and-needs assessment
• Builds on what is already working in a school
• Ensures sustainability by creating internal capacity
• Employs a realistic commitment of time
• Facilitates creation of an integrated system for prevention and intervention for students who are not succeeding
• Meets the 11 requirements of the Federal Comprehensive School Reform Grant
• Is Affordable
This model is offered through several long-term programs: interactive keynote/workshops; next step workshop series; whole school reform; Courageous Leadership Academy; summits and institutes; professional development videos; print resources; and long-term school improvement.
The six principles outlined in this program that guide student achievement are:
1. Common mission, vision, values, and goals
2. Systems of prevention and intervention
3. Collaborative teaming for teaching and learning
4. Data driven decision making and continuous improvement
5. Active engagement from family and community
6. Building sustainable leadership capacity
