Supporting Special Education Students

No one method of reading instruction will work for all children who struggle with reading. What is required is more intensive support as the teacher hones strategies to find the best practices that meet any particular child’s special learning needs. The most effective teachers develop a repertoire of strategies for working with struggling students.
Most of the practices suggested in this section of the Adolescent Reading resources will complement or overlap the approaches suggested in the other sections.
