Integrating Reading & Writing Instruction
According to Tierney and Shanahan (1991), numerous studies support the idea that writing and reading as combined processes lead to improvement in both areas. Teachers need to make explicit the connection between reading and writing - and learn to facilitate transfer of learning from both areas.
